List price is $546,000. Patek Philippe produces a very limited amount of minute repeaters worldwide, and the sale of the Ref. 5539G marks the first time this reference has ever been sold in the US.
Coveted by collectors, minute repeaters are amongst the rarest and most complicated timepieces in the world, and are considered masterpieces of precision and mechanical engineering, taking nearly two years to produce. A minute repeater is a complication in a mechanical watch that chimes the time on demand by activating a push or slide-piece which sounds the time using separate tones for hours, quarter-hours and minutes. Mr. Thierry Stern, President of Patek Philippe personally listens to each and every minute repeater after they are produced to ensure they meet the stringent standards of the Patek Philippe Seal.
