Dangle, drop, hug…or just go with a stud.

The perfect earrings can add a finishing touch to any outfit. Earrings are one of the most popular pieces of jewelry because most people wear them every day and they make great gifts.  Whatever earring design you choose, earrings can be worn as part of an ensemble and can accentuate the shape of your face.

Let's take a look at some of the most popular earring styles available.

In diamond, pearl and gemstones, an all-time favorite are STUD EARRINGS. Always classic and perfect for any occasion or every day, stud earrings work especially well for angular and long shaped faces.

HOOP EARRINGS evolved during the ‘60s, and have remained popular ever since. Being circular in shape, they perfectly complement the jawline and cheekbones to better define facial features and can be gold or silver, with or without diamonds and gemstones.  The combinations are endless for hoop earrings.

Falling just below the earlobes, DROP EARRINGS like these from Charles Krypell are another top choice for any festive or casual occasion.  Drop earrings can have diamonds, gemstones, or charms attached directly from the base of the earring that sway with movement. Drop earrings work well with round faces to help elongate the face and neck.

Similar to drop earrings, DANGLING EARRINGS move more freely and are available in many different shapes and sizes, with or without diamonds and gemstones. These Penny Preville and other dangling earring styles complement a square face beautifully.

HUGGIE EARRINGS were so named because they appear to "hug" your ears when worn. These earrings have a hinge at the top which allows the post to open into two halves. Shown here are Roberto Coin's Pois Mois huggies, but there are a plethora of designer styles and sizes, made of gold or silver and enhanced with precious stones like diamonds, gemstones and pearls.

CHANDELIER EARRINGS, like these wonderful, long, elaborate, dangling earrings from Ippolita, consist of multiple tiers of pearls, gemstones, and diamonds in gold or silver. Chandelier earrings often combine the design elements of stud and drop earrings, with a decorative stud that sits on the earlobe and a beautiful dangling piece that hangs below the earlobe. Chandelier earrings can dress up any outfit and add sophistication to everyday attire.

No matter what earring style you choose, you can accentuate your features and find the earrings that are most fun and flattering for you at Windsor Jewelers.
