Inside Tudor

THE LEGACY BEGINS

The house of “Veuve de Philippe Hüther”, a watch dealer and craftsman, registered the trademark “The TUDOR” in February 1926. TUDOR was established in Geneva for Rolex founder Hans Wilsdorf. In 1936, the house passed down the brand to Wilsdorf. As the Second World War came to an end, Hans Wilsdorf wanted to grow the brand, to give it an identity truly its own. On March 6, 1946, he created “Montres TUDOR S.A.”, a marvel of design, with models crafted for both men and women. Rolex would guarantee the technical, aesthetic, and functional characteristics, along with the distribution and after-sales service.

Tudor history

hans wilsdorf’s intuition

"For some years now, I have been considering the idea of making a watch that our agents could sell at a more modest price than our Rolex watches, and yet one that would attain the standard of dependability for which Rolex is famous. I decided to form a separate company, with the object of making and marketing this new watch. It is called the TUDOR watch company."

- H. Wilsdorf

THE ART AND TRADITION OF HAND CRAFTSMANSHIP

A TUDOR watch lives. Within it, a world of microprecision pulsates. It is a striking balance between technical innovation and strength of design. To ensure nothing less than perfection, the intricate components within a TUDOR watch have been relentlessly tested to the most precise details. Gaze at the movement. Precision is key. The TUDOR watch continues to set new standards for style, performance, and resilience. This high-precision mechanism will endure the passage of time. Extraordinary materials, exceptional durability, and timeless design make each watch a beauty to behold.

JAY CHOU

The art Jay Chou creates is the perfect embodiment of his daring and innovative spirit. This fearless attitude inspired the short film TUDOR released, in which Chou skillfully drives a sports car on a historical oval racetrack in Montlhéry, France. Eventually, he races through time, a fantastical moment inspired by Jay Chou’s art and the classic time travel movies from the 80’s. The film represents the idea of iconic images of the past continuing to impact watchmaking culture, music, and other forms of art today. For devoted fans of Chou’s work, you may spot the homage to one of Chou’s earlier films, in which he played a car enthusiast.
